Summer Kerley is the Vice President Clinical Operations and Health Plan Solutions for Rite Aid Corporation.
In her role, she oversees clinical pharmacy initiatives that further enhance the ability to deliver a higher level of patient care focusing on adherence, immunizations, medication therapy management (MTM), state-specific prescriptive authority (i.e. point-of-care testing and hormonal contraceptive prescribing), and development of ACPE pharmacist and technician continuing education, in all of the Rite Aid pharmacy locations. Additionally, she is responsible for the development of new and enhanced clinical operational processes to increase overall profitability and positive health outcomes with health plan partnerships.
With over 20 years in the industry, Summer began her career with Winn-Dixie Pharmacy and was selected as the company’s pharmacist of the year in 2003. In 2005, she joined the Eckerd team and joined Rite Aid in 2007 thru the acquisition of Brooks/Eckerd Pharmacy as a pharmacist. Summer was selected as the 2020 Corporate Partner of the Year.
Since joining Rite Aid, Summer has held a variety of roles including, Pharmacy District Manager, Clinical Operations Manager, and Director of Clinical Operations.
Summer holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Additionally, she’s furthered her clinical expertise by receiving an array of trainings and certifications including APhA Immunization Faculty Training, APhA Certified Immunization Pharmacist, APhA Travel Health Faculty Training, APhA Travel Health Certification, Hormonal Contraceptive Pharmacist Management and Prescribing Training, NACDS Community Pharmacy-Based Point of Care Testing and Train the Trainer Certification, Power-Pak Medication Therapy Management Certification, and Integrative Pharmacy Specialist Certification.
Currently, Summer serves on Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) Measure Update Panel, SmartSense by digi Healthcare Advisory Board, WE Board, and NACDS Foundation Board of Directors whose purpose is to improve patient health through partnership in research, education, and philanthropy.
